(Camera GPS was not on. Crap! I'll have to pull it from the GPS tracker.)

I do not know the exact location as to where scenes were recorded, so I was not able to go to that specific location.

The cave is in a really out-of-the-way location. There is only enough parking for a few cars. There is a larger parking lot, but farther away.

I was thinking of climbing over the gate to go down to the cave. Obviously I didn't. Sigh!

Yep, it was very windy as can been by the strong surf. Here it is mid-November and there was a woman in the water.

We didn't actually go down to Downhill Beach, as it was raining. The photos are from the visit to the Mussenden temple and the ruins in the area (taken during the rain, which showed up after we got there).

During the summer this location is used as parking overflow. During off-peak, it is great that it is empty and no tourists are around. The rope brige was closed due to high winds, so that reduced the visitors.

The camera's GPS was off again. Sigh!

Totally screwed up shooting this location. If I would have read the sign I photographed, I would have known to shoot in the opposite direction. Maybe we would have walked to the cliff. So, no land pictures, only the signs. Be it a learning tool for the next visitor to the area. Oh, the owners of the land ask for a parking fee.

This not the same location as noted in the brochure. I probably should have searched for the brochure location, but it is Lough Neagh.

When I got there, I drove to the office and forgot that it was Saturday, so the office was closed. After I drove back to the entrance, the gatekeeper came out and I had a nice chat with him. I asked about going to the castle, but he said that it was not possible as they were doing a pheasant hunt in that area. The property has a pheasant farm. We talked about GoT, in which he was a fan of the show. They did a lot of shooting there. They used the main entrance road (behind me in the above road photos) in which the pulled all of the fence posts out. Yes, they were put back. A big green screen was put up to block the entrance, as the gatekeeper's house and cars going by was a little too modern.

I'm not positive, but the "basement" of the castle was used for the scenes in which Cersei was held prisoner.

He did not have high regards for the producers. He had asked them if they would get autographs for him from the cast. They couldn't be bothered saying that the cast was too busy, etc. I'm sure the cast would have gladly done so for the gatekeeper.

I asked about opening the castle up to tourists and he told me that it was discussed and that it was decided that it would not happen. One of the reasons was that the show is no longer in production and tourist traffic is down. I do not know if there were any other reasons, but I imagine that parking near the castle would be an issue and getting tourist buses there would also be an issue. A lot of money would have to be spent. Just not logical.

He said to drive down to the junction so that I could take some photos. The road in the photos was also used. It is straight on from the entrance. For some idiotic reason I didn't turn around and shoot toward the main entrance.

Castle Black

Getting to the quarry that was used for Castle Black is extremely difficult. The road leading to the quarry is gated shut, with two big signs on either side of the gate reading (red type on white background): Absolutely no standing or parking.

Well, that took care of that. Tells me that the plans to turn it into a tourist attraction before I got there did not take place.
